What happens when you photograph your city at 2 a.m. with no agenda.
The best photos are the ones you take when you're not looking for a photo.
Last summer I walked through the city at night a few times with my camera. No plan. No theme. Just: see what's there.
At 2 a.m. a city is a different city. Quieter. More honest. The things hidden during the day by people and noise become visible: a broken neon sign that's still burning, two people in a doorway, a cat watching something I can't see.
Night photography is really just learning to see in the dark. Not metaphorically — literally: your eyes adjust, you see more, you miss less.
I think that stands for something. But I don't know exactly what.
